The Sammi Day Challenge

The Backstory

What is Sammi Day?

In 2018, our two-year-old Samantha died in January. In lieu of giving gifts to Sammi that year, Katie (Sammi’s sister) thought we should give gifts to “the whole world”. Each year since, we’ve invited THE WHOLE WORLD to join us in passing on random (or intentional!) acts of kindness to one another.

WHEN is Sammi Day?

While Sammi’s birthday was on September 5th, you can “celebrate” anytime you want ;)

WHERE and HOW does Sammi Day take place?

That’s up to YOU! In the past, people all over the world have joined in and shared some love with their neighbor.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Make treats for neighbors, coworkers, or a local shelter

  • Take an old friend (or a new friend!) out for coffee

  • Share your story with someone who needs to hear it

  • Volunteer at a local shelter

  • Commit random acts of kindness for a complete stranger

  • Do something AWESOME with the kids in your life (nieces/nephews, friends, etc.)

  • Use your time/gifts/talents/resources to bless a family in need

So here’s my big request: would you join our family and celebrate Sammi Day? If you are a Jesus-follower, would you ask the Lord to use you in a big way? Would you ask Him to bring people to mind? We believe in the power of prayer and we believe that He can and will use YOU as a tangible extension of His love.  Follow along on social media with the hashtag #SammiDay to see what others are doing!
